Unfortunately my experience at Helvetica was the worst first impression and encounter I have ever had at an establishment. I appreciate misunderstandings and mistakes that are made professionally, but it is how this omission was dealt with that has left me shocked. I visited Helvetica after work (100% sober) for a birthday, the first thing I did was go to the bathroom and upon leaving went to the bar to order a drink. The female manager at the time RAN to the bar to tell the three very confused and equally as shocked bar tenders to not serve me, all the while pointing at me in front of the whole bar. The bar tenders argued with the manager (I could hear the whole thing as it was right in front of my face) that I was sober, which she passionately disagreed with as I was 'vomiting in the cubicles.' Ok, she obviously mistook me for someone else in the cubicle, fair enough so after they served me and continued to point at me and argue, I politely did my 'sorry to interrupt but may I please clarify this situation' as it was embarrassing me and ruining the atmosphere as they were literally right next to us. The audacity of the manager was incredible, she didn't apologise for getting it wrong, or even say a word for that matter: I received a patronising smile and slow blink of the eye. I have never experienced such an unjust treatment and was so upset I walked out of the venue and my associates and I will never be back. Beautiful Bar, excellent Bar tenders, excellent cocktails but worst experience which breaks my heart for the owner.
Really liked my confit beetroot. Staff were very friendly and looked super professional. Table that we sat at was a bit small and very close to the ones either side which made them difficult to get in and out of but was really a minor gripe. Food and venue both look amazing.
Terrible serving size for the price you pay. It is actually only half of the food quantity per court compared to the standard share of other Chinese, Restaurant. Eat no big deal.
Grief No parking not. Do not come back!
Much better than expected, great flavours and decent portions for the set menu, good and quick service, great that spiciness and heat are turned up high as opposed to many places. The staff do warn punters how hot some dishes are, yet the homebrewing bore sitting next to us still had a winge about it.
Overall, reccommend
We had breakfast at Post this morning. We had POST's version of Eggs Benedict, Lemon Pancake & Big Breakfast. Price were about the same as other breakfast places but the size of all dishes were quite small. Taste wise? Not much to rave about (standard). Big breakfast Scrambled Eggs was dry and not creamy as it should. Standard mushroom, sausage and bacon. Potato Rosti was nice & crispy though. Mocha coffee was alright, watery. Service was attentive but not too friendly. I'd rather go to Petition Kitchen next time as they have more interesting dishes on menu.
Why a score of 1? Where do I even start... 30 minutes to get seated in a half full restaurant, menus taken away for another table before ordering while being read, being given a dish we didnt order and multiple drinks belonging to someone else, waiters incorrectly identifing dishes, being asked to pay for the meal while we were eating it... twice... and then being unable to understand what each of us was paying for, plates and cutlery being cleared while still being used and then being given someone elses dirty fork and knife when asked for it back, and then trying to clear our charcuterie board while still full of food. To top it all off they even tried to give us someone else's bar tab card, which was absolutely appalling to think someone could purchase drinks on a total strangers card. With no apologies given for terrible service, a rating of 1 is generous.
my friend and I had dinner here last Saturday night. apparently they have changed their restaurant name, which is now amano restaurant. great outsight and delicious eating except it was too loud from the other tables behind us. we both expected a cozy, quiet evening meal with nice lounge jazz music from a fine eating, but other tables ruined the atmosphere. the personal was excellent.
